What We Provide
Quality and Relevance. In building the interface for our content-rich database of legal and law-related resources, our founder sought to provide the most reputable, current and useful sources for legal research and practice.
Our human editors screen legal resources listed on our site to ensure that we provide only the most useful, most relevant, most substantive and most frequently consulted legal resources.
Our primary goal is to provide legal professionals an intuitive and easy method to search for and access relevant and useful legal information. To this end, we ensure that human editors evaluate the resources listed on our site. Content submissions are individually classified, evaluated and reviewed. To be included in our database, each resource must meet four stringent criteria: accuracy of content, presentation, uniqueness, and utility.
Organization. Each general category on our site leads to carefully selected links – each accompanied by a brief commentary. Legal resources listed on our site are carefully organized according to specific practice areas.
Search our free article database for legal articles of original research and analysis. The law articles included in our database emphasize contemporary legal developments and provide law review articles for research and academic purposes.
Lawyer Locator. Browse our directory of attorneys, law firms and legal professionals. Search for legal professionals and law firms by name, practice area, city, state and country, and view profiles of lawyers and law firms. We invite you to join our ever-expanding network of legal professionals from across the globe.
Interviews and Commentary. Original articles providing monthly commentary and analysis regarding people, news, pending cases and legislation, and profiles of legal professionals, educators, authors, and other topics of interest to legal professionals, researchers, consultants, authors and the general public. At times we may go beyond interesting issues to tackle controversial issues that will stimulate thought, and perhaps some spirited dialogue.
A Global Focus. As trade and economic boundaries continue to blur within continents and across many
nations, so does the need for an inclusive and exhaustive resource for topics related to international law. In addition to domestic legal topics, we provide information on significant international treaties, journals, and legal databases ranging from antiquity to the present and representing all nationalities.
Our international law resources are relevant to academics, corporate counsel, judges, representatives of governments and nongovernmental organizations, students, litigation professionals, and others from across the world interested in law.
Recognition. Our efforts have drawn a number of awards and recognition, including being named as a USA Today.com Web Guide “Hot Site” and being featured as “Link of the Week” by the Social Law Library.
More recently, on a list that appeared in a New York Times, Consumer WebWatch listed our site among the “Most Trustworthy” sites on the Internet. Law and Policy Institutions Guide joins an elite roster of websites listed that “have taken a pledge to abide by [Consumer WebWatch] guidelines to improve online credibility.”
